"Ho?" Oh no!

In Sydney, Australia, "Santas" are no longer permitted to say "Ho, ho, ho!" as this may "be offensive to women." Instead, they must replace the classic cry with "Ha, ha, ha!"

As silly as this seems, I'm not laughing.

I doubt any women worked to pass this restriction. This faux resolution claims to looks out for women, yet it's only purpose is to further the patriarchal stereotype of the frivolous women.

The thing I find most idiotic about Sydney's new resolution is that the term "ho" would not be offensive to WOMEN, it would be offensive to HOS (defined as promiscuous and prostitute-esque women). It's more offensive to ban the term "ho" for the sake of not being offensive to women than to allow Santas to say it.

I think there's a difference between overtly racist or sexist jokes (like that of Carlos Mencia) and jokes that lightly embrace certain stereotypes (like an overbearing Jewish mother on Seinfield)
